- Youth and Teen Collection Librarian
Description
The Montrose Regional Library District is seeking a diligent and self-motivated Youth and Teen Services Collection Development Librarian to join our CORPS department (Cataloging, Ordering, Receiving, and Processing Services). We value candidates who can keep a confident and positive attitude while navigating the public library environment; possess strong communication and organizational skills; and are comfortable with people of all ages and from all backgrounds. An ideal candidate will possess Spanish-language ability (nearly a quarter of our population are native Spanish speakers).
The Youth and Teen Collection Librarian selects juvenile and young adult materials in all formats by evaluating and analyzing the collection areas, researching available material, ordering material through library sanctioned vendors. Creates weeding reports and manages inventory for youth and teen services departments.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Due to the nature of this position, we prefer a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited university and two years of varied and robust experience in a public library, preferably in collection development. Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
