Description

Allen Memorial Library at Valley City State University (VCSU) seeks a full time Technical Services Librarian responsible for technical services, expanding access, improving discovery and aligning the library with emerging best practices. This position also contributes to broader library services including reference assistance and promotion of library collections. 

Responsibilities

• Perform cataloging of all library resources efficiently and accurately using professional standards and best practices.
• Manage the physical processing of library materials.
• Play a key role in managing the library’s digital and special collections.
• Develop procedures, training, and instructional documentation for technical services and library systems.
• Support the administration and maintenance of resource platforms, discovery tools, and related applications in collaboration with consortia partners and campus technology staff.
• Troubleshoot access to online resources and provide solution articles for the library knowledge base.
• Assist with gathering and reporting library statistics and assessments.
• Assist with promoting library collections and services as valuable resources for the VCSU community and beyond.
• Engage with emerging practices in cataloging, metadata, electronic resources, accessibility, and library systems.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of cataloging and metadata standards, including MARC, RDA, authority control, and classification practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage detailed work accurately, analyze problems, and improve workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team oriented academic environment.
• Experience with integrated library systems.
• Experience with developing or managing digital collections, institutional repositories, or archives.
• Experience with digital accessibility.
