Description
The Cleveland State University College of Law invites applications for the position of Head of Access & Technical Services in the Law Library. This is a full-time management and professional position on CSU’s main campus in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
The Head of Access & Technical Services provides leadership for the Law Library’s core operational functions, including acquisitions, cataloging, electronic resources, circulation, interlibrary loan, and course reserves. The position oversees both technical services and access services operations, ensuring effective workflows, high-quality metadata and collection maintenance, and responsive, user-centered service delivery to students, faculty, and the broader academic community.
This role also plays a key part in budget management and reporting, working closely with the Law Library Director on fiscal planning, invoicing, and compliance reporting. In addition, the Head of Access & Technical Services supervises a team of four full-time staff members, contributes to collection development and electronic resource management decisions, and supports the stewardship of the Law Library’s special and digital collections.

Requirements
Required qualifications include an ALA-accredited MLS and a minimum of five years of professional experience, with demonstrated knowledge of technical services or collection management operations in an academic, research, or law library setting. Experience with library automation systems and OCLC cataloging is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience in a law library environment, three years supervisory experience, and familiarity with acquisitions, serials, and the reporting functions of integrated library systems.
