Lycoming College is hiring a Director of Library Services, Associate Professor to work within Snowden Library.
Lycoming College, one of the nation’s oldest residential liberal arts and sciences colleges, invites applications for the position of Director of the Library. This full-time, twelve-month administrative executive and library faculty position provides strategic leadership for Snowden Library and advances library services that support student success, teaching and learning, faculty and student scholarship, information literacy, and campus engagement.
The Director of the Library reports to the Associate Provost for Academic Excellence and is responsible for leading library administration, operations, instruction, assessment, collections, technologies, facilities, budget planning, policy development, and the College Archives. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered leader who promotes teamwork, inclusion, intellectual engagement, and continuous improvement across library services.

What will I do in this role?
- Lead and support strategic growth in research services, archives, collections and student-centered library initiatives that support the Institution’s mission and strategic plan while expressing the vision the College holds for its academic library.
- Promote strategies and policies that foster information literacy and enhance student engagement within the College via active instruction and research programs.
- Advocate and oversee the development and management of the library’s print and electronic resources to enhance the library’s role in research and academic success.
- Coordinate with Information Technology Services for the planning, implementation, and support of technologies used in the creation, maintenance and delivery of academic information resources for faculty and students both on and off campus.
- Manage all library service operations and create, update and implement policies.
- Coordinate expected outcomes and assessment of library services and procedures, including compiling reports such as the annual report for the library, a triennial report for the College, and an ongoing strategic plan in coordination with the Associate Provost for Academic Excellence.
- Maintain the physical spaces through planning, coordination, and execution of identified improvements.
- Supervise, develop, and evaluate staff of professional librarians and other library staff. Assess, plan, and provide annual professional development for all.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with faculty, college leadership, and external partners.
- Prepare annual budget recommendations in coordination with relevant library staff and the Associate Provost for Academic Excellence. Be responsible for monitoring and distribution of those funds throughout the academic year.
- Oversee the College Archives while initiating strategic directions for the archives.
- Ensure College safety and security procedures for those who use and work in the library.
- Participate in local, regional, and national library organizations and consortia representing the institution by meeting attendance and participation in organizational structure.
- Participate in scholarly communication through publication and presentation.
- Participate in College community activities and committee work and demonstrate involvement in the intellectual life of the College to ensure the library remains responsive to evolving research, teaching, and learning needs.

What are we looking for?
Educational Requirement:
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience in academic library administration and managing academic information resources with increasing levels or responsibilities.
- Evidence of a sustained commitment to knowledge of innovation and technological development in academic librarianship.
- Experience working with teaching faculty to develop effective library services and information resources.
- Experience in supervision and personnel management of academic library professionals and technical staff.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including administrative and management experience in academic libraries with an emphasis on strategic planning, budget management, and staff supervision and development.
- Knowledge of current issues and trends in scholarly communication, pedagogy, and librarianship such as copyright, plagiarism, intellectual freedom, technology, and assessment.
- Experience in collection development and knowledge of library systems.
