Description
The Schenectady County Public Library is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Library Director. Under the general direction of the Library Director, the Assistant Library Director is responsible for the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of public library services throughout the Schenectady County Public Library system. The incumbent oversees the effective operation of public service departments to ensure the efficient delivery of library services that are responsive to community needs and aligned with the Library's mission, strategic priorities, and organizational goals. This position requires demonstrated leadership in strategic planning, operational management, staff supervision, and organizational development, as well as a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and effective service delivery across a nine-branch county public library system.

Schedule: primarily weekdays with occasional nights and weekends as needed (also on call to handle urgent matters during nights and weekends).

Requirements
Minimum qualifications: Possession of a Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS), Master of Science in Information Science (MSIS) that is accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education as following accepted education practices and six (6) years of professional library experience in a library of recognized standing, three (3) years of which must have been in a public library in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
