Company Overview
Woodland Public Library is a municipal public library serving the residents of Woodland and the greater Yolo County region. Established in 1874, the library operates as a core civic institution dedicated to equitable access to information, education, and cultural enrichment. It is one of the oldest continuously operating Carnegie libraries in California and remains a vital community anchor.
The library provides a comprehensive range of services, including physical and digital collections, public technology access, educational programming, and literacy support for all ages. Core services emphasize lifelong learning, workforce readiness, digital inclusion, and youth development. The library supports students, families, seniors, immigrants, and individuals facing economic or technological barriers.
In addition to traditional library services, Woodland Public Library operates Square One, a community makerspace and innovation hub that offers hands-on learning in design thinking, digital fabrication, and technical skill building. The library also delivers outreach services through its bookmobile, extending access to materials and programs in neighborhoods, schools, and community sites where residents may face transportation or mobility challenges.
Funded by public support and guided by a Board of Trustees, Woodland Public Library collaborates with local organizations, schools, and agencies to respond to evolving community needs. Through these efforts, the library functions not only as an information provider, but as a strategic partner in education, economic opportunity, and civic engagement.
