Company Overview

About Preservation Technologies, L.P.:
Preservation Technologies, L.P. (PTLP) is a company dedicated to helping universities, academic institutions, cultural entities and private companies preserve and maintain access to their collections. PTLP was founded on the guiding principle of bringing engineering and innovation to the field of cultural preservation. In 1992, in collaboration with the Library of Congress’s Preservation Research and Testing Division, Preservation Technologies embarked on further research and testing of its patented Bookkeeper paper deacidification process. The process quickly proved effective, consistently meeting the LOC’s requirements. PTLP has provided mass deacidification services to LOC since 1996; since 2002 we have operated a horizontal manuscript treater and a Bookkeeper spray booth, located at the LOC’s Madison Building on Capitol Hill.
Preservation Technologies is headquartered in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, where we operate the largest deacidification plant in the world. The Cranberry facility is also home to The MediaPreserve, our audiovisual digitization laboratory.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

Bookkeeper® is the only deacidification method to meet the standards of the Library of Congress as well as current and projected OSHA, FTC and EPA consumer and environmental requirements. Over 550,000 assets from library and archival collections are sent to Preservation Technologies global facilities each year to be deacidified.
