Located approximately 55 miles north of San Francisco in the southern portion of the Redwood Empire, Sonoma County enjoys excellent climatic conditions. County residents live in an area of small businesses, farms, small and medium size cities and towns, and light industry including high technology. The region is noted for a variety of tourist and recreational attractions, including 67 miles of Pacific Coast beaches, the Russian River resort area, the beautiful Valley of the Moon and world-renowned wineries.

Library service is provided through the 14 branches/locations made up of 12 regional and community libraries and two rural stations in Occidental and Forestville, and with assistance from Mendocino County’s Bookmobile service for the far northwest corner of the Sonoma County coast.

Over 200 employees focus every day on serving the people of Sonoma County.
