Founded in 1881, NJIT is a public, urban, research university with enrollment of over 11,000 students. We awarded over 2,700 degrees in AY2015-2016 from the baccalaureate through the PhD in an array of engineering and technology disciplines, computer and information science, architecture and design, management and business administration, transportation, science and applied science, mathematical science, social and policy science, communications, and history.
NJIT is a leader in interdisciplinary applied research with annual expenditures totaling more than $110 million. NJIT includes public service and economic development as key components of its mission. The main campus comprises 45 acres containing 3.1 million square feet. The campus includes classroom and laboratory buildings, a library, five residence halls, a gymnasium, a synthetic turf soccer field, specialized research facilities, 2 parking decks, and administrative buildings.
