Founded in 1893, the Montclair Free Public Library exists to enhance the quality of life in Montclair by providing an environment which supports and stimulates self education, lifelong learning, and information literacy. It has an annual budget of over $4 million dollars and a staff of over 50.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

First library to have a computerized circulation system (built by IBM in 1942) and named one of the top five libraries in the nation by Library Journal in 2002.
