Company History
Established in 1906.
Mesa Public Library has its roots in a small collection of books shelved in the basement of Gurley's Meat Market. The collection was part of the circulating library of Arizona. In 1915 it moved to the Mesa Commercial club rooms on South Macdonald. In 1929, Mesa's dream of having and operating its own library was realized and the Mesa library opened with 500 volumes on the shelves and one librarian. Over the years, the Mesa Public Library has grown to three branches (with two more planned) and circulates millions of items a year.
