Hollins is an independent, liberal arts university in Roanoke, Virginia offering undergraduate education for women, selected graduate programs for men and women, and community outreach initiatives. Founded in 1842 as Virginia's oldest chartered women's college, Hollins is known for its creative writing program, one of the oldest study-abroad programs in the country, and extensive internship opportunities. The Wyndham Robertson Library received an ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award in recognition of its creative programming and dedication to enriching the intellectual life of the university.
