Company Overview

Carnegie Mellon (CMU) is a global research university with more than 12,000 students, 90,000
alumni, and 5,000 faculty and staff. Recognized for its exceptional academic programs,

CMU’s main campus in Pittsburgh is comprised of the Carnegie Institute of Technology (engineering),
College of Fine Arts, Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Heinz College (public
policy and information systems), Mellon College of Science, School of Computer Science, and the
Tepper School of Business, inclusive of a number of interdisciplinary programs.

Progressive and entrepreneurial, CMU has, in addition to its main campus in Pittsburgh (named th
nation’s most livable city in 2011 by Forbes.com), satellite campuses in Silicon Valley and Doha,
Qatar, and degree programs in Adelaide, Kigali, Lisbon, and other locations in the U.S. and
throughout the world. In the past 15 years, CMU faculty, students, and alumni have created more
than 300 companies. Since 2007, CMU has ranked No. 1 among all universities without a medical
school in the number of startup companies created per research dollar spent. In early 2011, the
World Economic Forum invited CMU to become a permanent member of its Global University Leaders
Forum (GULF), one of only 26 university members.
