Company Overview
A dedicated place for information, entertainment, community, and culture, Brown County Library, founded in 1968, was the first county-wide library system established in Wisconsin. Consisting of 8 library locations and a bookmobile, our award-winning library has been named Wisconsin Library of the Year multiple times, most recently in 2023, and featured in American Libraries 2024 Design Showcase.
Brown County Library provides free and equitable access to curated resources and services as well as accessible spaces. Steeped in history and tradition, we offer a robust local history collection to support genealogists, researchers, and history buffs alike.
We pride ourselves in providing innovative services that are responsive to the changing needs of our community. Recently, to support local job seekers and employers, Brown County Library launched the first ever JobPod, a collaboration with Nicolet Federated Library System, WI Department of Workforce Development, and the Bay Area Workforce Development Board.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
In 1980, 1993, and 2023, Brown County Library was named Wisconsin Library of the Year, and in 1994, Library Journal and Gale Research Inc. recognized the library’s effective, diverse and efficient service to the community by naming the library National Library of the Year.
In 2024, Brown County Library launched the first ever JobPod, a collaboration with Nicolet Federated Library System, WI Department of Workforce Development, and the Bay Area Workforce Development Board, to support local job seekers and employers.
