Alachua County is located in beautiful North Central Florida approximately midway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. It has a population of 254,893 (2015). Gainesville is the County Seat, conveniently located right off I-75. The Alachua County Library District consists of the Headquarters Library located in downtown Gainesville and 12 branch libraries, including one fully functioning library in Alachua County’s Jail, which serve various areas of Gainesville and the communities around Alachua County. The eBranch oversees the District’s website and is a fully functioning virtual branch. For Fiscal Year 2016, the Library District has a fiscal operating budget of $17,957,272 and 200.76 FTEs.
