Mission:
University Libraries is proud to be an innovative partner in realizing the University of Northern Colorado’s academic vision. We foster intellectual discovery and empower a diverse community of learners and researchers through collections, education, outreach, services, and learning spaces.
Strategic Directions:
Collections
We curate and provide access to information resources to advance the knowledge creation, research, and teaching of the institution. Collection building includes acquisition, licensing, and organization of new resources to meet changing curricular needs. On-going collection management involves preservation and analysis of current materials, including archival materials. We utilize emerging technologies to provide improved access anddiscovery.
Education
We educate our community in information literacy and library research skills to foster critical thinking
and empower researchers and scholars.We provide education through course-integrated library instruction sessions, information literacy credit courses, workshops, and personal consultations. We create hands-on activities, digital learning objects, and instructional videos for diverse learners and multiple course formats. We promote continuous improvement of teaching and learning through ongoing assessment of student learning.
Library as Place
We provide welcoming library spaces to support the evolving needs of the campus community. We provide a variety of spaces to support the diverse academic, intellectual, and creative interests of the campus community. We seek innovative approaches to balance the varied needs of our users for teaching, learning, and leisure pursuits.
Outreach & Engagement
We build relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community to provide opportunities for learning and discovery. In order to support the research, scholarship, and creative works of students, faculty and staff, we provide individual consultations, educational programs, and orientations. We offer support for disseminating original research and tools and services to analyze the impact of that research. We work with the university and broader communities to provide programming and access to library resources.
Services
We offer assistance and tools to help users meet their needs. In support of academic success, learning, and the creation of knowledge, we provide user-centered assistance and experiences. We provide access to library materials, connect users with tools and resources, and offer personalized assistance.
Organizational Culture
We value the expertise of Libraries staff and faculty and work to foster a supportive and inclusive work environment. We recognize the critical role of our personnel in the Libraries success. We work to create a supportive work environment that promotes professional development, cross-departmental collaboration, and campus-wide engagement. We strive to improve all Libraries departments and activities through assessment and innovation.

Benefits available include health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
