Description

Monroe County Public Library is seeking an engaged, innovative librarian to join our fantastic teen services team to provide excellent patron-facing services and audience programming. We facilitate a dynamic and fast paced environment during after school hours and on weekends when teens from multiple community middle and high schools drop by to participate in events and hang out with their friends.

This position develops, plans, implements and promotes weekly programs (including events, displays, on-line content, and other aspects) for a diverse audience of teens. Responsibilities include engaging in outreach activities to youth serving organizations, and assisting in the development of high-quality readers’ advisory services, both at the Library and in the community.

Responsible for building collaborative relationships and engaging teens with a positive and enthusiastic approach; the successful candidate possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patrons, employees and outside contacts and is consistently pleasant, positive, and responsive to a diverse public and staff.

Fluency in a second language is considered helpful.

Pay Grade | Hours | Compensation

Pay Grade 7

Full-Time (37.5 Hrs./Wk.).

Starting hourly wage begins at $20.87 | Compensation is commensurate with relevant experience/expertise.

Requirements

Requires an MLS from an ALA accredited college or university. One year of related library experience required, and one year of working with community engagement, programming, and professional leadership is preferred. Indiana Public Library (LPL) Certification – Librarian Level 3 is required.
