Advertising Rates and Product Descriptions
Regular (Non-member) rate: $85 base plus $0.90 per word
ALA Institutional Member rate*: $70 base plus $0.75 per word
Logo surcharge: $20 to upload a GIF or JPG of an institution's logo that will appear in the online ad
Online ads run for 60 days on the JobLIST site, and are typically posted within two business hours of submission (weekdays except holidays, Central time zone). Ads can be held to post at midnight on a future date at the advertiser's request.
Online ads include free access to our job seeker résumé bank, as well as the JobLIST Communication Tool, allowing employers to communicate with hundreds of potential applicants from across the country. This feature can be accessed by clicking "Placement Service" on the Employer Home page when an online ad is active on our Web site.
Employers may choose to run their print ad online for an additional $70 (ALA institutional members)/$85 (non-members).
Flat rate: $100
Placement ads are designed to be used specifically during conference periods. Employers can purchase an unlimited number of placement ads at the cost of $100 per ad. Placement ads are only available during designated conference periods (ALA Annual Conferences, ALA Midwinter Meetings, and selected ALA Division conferences, such as ACRL) and run for 2 weeks on the JobLIST site.

In order to use the live on-site placement service at conferences, you must have either an active placement ad or regular online ad during the conference period.

Ads may be placed to run in print in American Libraries, C&RL News, or both. If you choose to run the same ad in both American Libraries and C&RL News, you will receive a 10% discount off the print ad rates.

Deadlines for American Libraries print ad orders and materials (submitted through ALA JobLIST) are as follows:
Ads received after the 5th of every month will be included on a space available basis and charged an additional $100 late ad submission fee.
$20 fee for inclusion of logo with a display ad provided as text for C&RL News to lay out.
$100 late display ad fee for ads received after the 5th of the preceding month (i.e., late day cutoff for October issue is September 5), subject to available space.
Deadlines: Print ad orders and materials for C&RL News must be submitted through ALA JobLIST by the 5th of the month preceding publication of the issue (e.g., September 5 for the October issue). Should this date fall on a weekend or holiday, ads will be accepted on the next business day. Late job listings will be accepted on a space-available basis after the 5th of the month, subject to the late ad fees described above.
C&RL News issues mail the first week of each month (early July, for the combined July/August issue). Given the time it takes to reach subscriber mailboxes at the periodicals rate, we recommend that ads including an application deadline make it no sooner than the 20th day of the month in which the notice appears (e.g., October 20 for the October issue).
Employers may run an institutional profile at no charge any time they have an active ad on the site. Profiles may contain general information about the hiring institution. They are linked from the bottom of each active ad, and the profiles include links to each ad currently active on the site that was placed through the same JobLIST Employer account. We accept payment by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Terms for purchase order billing are Net 30 from invoice date; no specific PO number or reference is required, but if one is provided before the order is billed it can be included on the invoice.
Customers outside the United States and Canada may also pay by wire transfer; institutions outside the U.S. and Canada who are doing business with ALA for the first time will be required to provide credit card information or contact ALA in advance for wire transfer instructions before their ad can be posted.
