The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and largest library association in the world, with about 58,000 current members. Its mission is to promote the highest quality library and information services and public access to information. Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL)

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association, is a professional association of academic librarians and other interested individuals. It is dedicated to enhancing the ability of academic library and information professionals to serve the information needs of the higher education community and to improve learning, teaching, and research. ACRL is the largest division of the American Library Association (ALA), with a current membership of approximately 12,200.

Human Resources Development and Recruitment (HRDR)

The mission of ALA's Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (HRDR) is to facilitate the development of librarianship as a profession. To accomplish this purpose, HRDR focuses on education and learning programs, recruitment of a diverse workforce, and policies and practices in the areas of management and human resources which best serve the needs of libraries and their employee.

HRDR coordinates ALA's placement services through the ALA JobLIST Placement Center, which provides assistance with job placement in conjunction with the ALA Midwinter and Annual Conferences, as well as selected divisional national conferences.

Job listings related to Placement Services are posted on the JobLIST Web site. Communication between employers and prospective employees using these services are also conducted through JobLIST.
