Associate Director for Research/Worldwide Library Services

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) seeks an Associate Director for Research/Worldwide Library Services to oversee the management and supervision of the Hunt Library Research/Worldwide Library Services department and to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of our students, faculty and staff by providing responsive services to our campuses. Duties include ensuring the delivery of quality research support, overseeing the library user education program, participating in the long-range planning, goal setting, assessment and evaluation of services as a member of the Library’s Management Team, and budgetary responsibilities. Duties also include staffing the research service points, teaching and participating in team projects.

Hunt Library, located at the Daytona Beach campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, provides library services to 5,000 residential students at this campus as well as to over 10,000 distance learning students through Embry-Riddle Worldwide.  A leader in the provision of higher education in the fields of aviation and aerospace, ERAU offers regionally accredited bachelors’ and masters’ degrees as well as several doctoral programs, one of which (aviation science) is the first of its kind in the world.  For more information on ERAU, see  For more information on the Hunt Library, go to

Required Qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library Science or Information Studies with three years relevant experience.
  • experience with training and supervising front- line customer service staff positions, management and leadership, and reference practices
  • experience in using print and electronic resources
  • teaching/course development experience
  • knowledge of academic libraries
  • strong communication (written, oral) and interpersonal skills
  • ability to effectively contribute to collaborative projects
  • ability to work with a diverse population of students, staff, and faculty
  • flexibility and the ability to work in a rapidly changing technological environment
  • working knowledge of Microsoft office products and database applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • experience providing off campus library services
  • experience using online research tools such as Springshare products
  • experience with non-traditional students
  • expertise with budgeting
