Sims Memorial Library, Southeastern Louisiana University, seeks an enthusiastic professional for the position of Reference/Distance Learning Librarian. This is a 12- month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. Professional library experience is required. A Master’s Degree in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited institution is required. Required skills include demonstrated proficiency with computer applications and integrated library systems, and knowledge of course management systems like Blackboard are essential. The candidate is also expected to exhibit familiarity with library and instruction trends, and have effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Preference will be given to candidates with an additional Master’s Degree and experience with instruction design, proven instruction skills and/or professional experience in an academic library reference, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds.
